A shooter opened fire in a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia late Tuesday in an employee staff room, leaving six people dead and four in hospital with unknown conditions, police said, in the country’s second high-profile mass killing in a handful of days.
The assailant, confirmed to be an employee of Walmart, is also dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The store in Chesapeake is now safe and will likely be closed for several days during the investigation, police said in the early hours of Wednesday.
