Sources tell NY1 that a federal investigation into former Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes is over.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office was investigating Hynes for allegations he used money seized in criminal raids to pay for consulting work on his unsuccessful re-election campaign.
Hynes had lost to the late Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson in 2013.
Hynes would have faced felony charges if the case had gone forward.
