President Joe Biden spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, three days after Israel launched an attack in Gaza in which seven World Central Kitchen aid workers were killed, the White House said, USA TODAY’s Swapna Venugopal Ramaswamy reported.
3. Conan O’Brien to return to ‘Tonight Show’ with Jimmy Fallon for first time after firing
Conan O’Brien is returning to the “Tonight Show” stage for the first time as a guest, visiting the stomping grounds from which he was abruptly fired in 2010. O’Brien, 60, will return to promote his Max travel show, which the streaming service first announced last year. The series will follow O’Brien as he travels around the world to visit fans he interviewed on his podcast, “Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan,” a spin-off of his popular podcast, “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.”
4. Arab American doctor walks out of meeting with Biden
Dr. Thaer Ahmad, a Palestinian American doctor walked out of a private meeting between Muslim leaders and President Joe Biden that was held Tuesday evening after the group turned down an earlier White House invitation to attend a Ramadan dinner.

A New York judge on Wednesday rejected former President Donald’s Trump’s plea to delay his upcoming criminal trial until after the Supreme Court rules on his broad claim of presidential immunity.
6. Oklahoma executes Michael DeWayne Smith for 2002 fatal shootings
Michael DeWayne Smith, 41, was pronounced dead at 10:20 a.m. at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary after a lethal injection. Smith, who was member of an Oklahoma City street gang, was convicted of shooting and killing two people in 2002. He committed the murders, according to attorneys for the state, because he chose “a life of crime and violence” centered around the gang.
7. $30 million stolen from security company in one of Los Angeles’ biggest heists
Thieves stole as much as $30 million from a money storage facility in Los Angeles on Easter Sunday in one of the biggest cash heists in the city’s history, the Los Angeles Times reported. Los Angeles police told USA TODAY that the theft was being jointly investigated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and that all inquiries would be handled directly by the federal agency. The FBI, meanwhile, did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for an update on the investigation.
8. NFL network part ways with four popular on-air personalities
Four prominent on-air personalities will not be back: Andrew Siciliano, Melissa Stark, Will Selva and James Palmer. While ratings for the NFL continue to soar and set records, the league’s internal media arm experienced additional cuts. “As is normal course of business this time of year, we are evaluating our talent roster for the upcoming 2024 season and beyond,” NFL Network spokesperson Alex Riethmiller said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports. “That process results in renewals, non-renewals and additions to our talent lineup depending on programming needs. To those departing talent, we give our sincere thanks and appreciation for their hard work and contributions to NFL Media.”
9. Snowstorm slams Northeast, Great Lakes with mass power outages and travel mayhem
A deadly storm that’s left a trail of wreckage across a vast swath of the U.S. slammed the Northeast and Great Lakes regions with heavy snow, rain and wind on Thursday, knocking out power, closing schools and disrupting travel in major cities.
