AVON – A Rochester woman has been charged with felony grand larceny charges following an investigation into the alleged theft of a trailer and off-road vehicle, reports the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said.
Alicia A. Sackett, 44, was arrested Oct. 5 by Sheriff’s Investigator Connor Sanford and charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony.
A person is charged with third-degree grand larceny when the value of the property is more than $3,000.
The charges are in connection with an investigation begun Sept. 22, when Sheriff’s deputies responded about 6 a.m. to an address on Lakeville Road after receiving a call that a trailer and a Polaris Ranger 900 had been stolen. Through the investigation, Sackett was identified as a suspect, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The trailer and utility terrain vehicle were taken from a parking lot and recovered later that day in the city of Rochester by Sheriff’s Investigator.
Sackett and two other male suspects allegedly took the trailer and UTV, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected with the other suspects, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Sackett was located Oct. 5 in the city of Rochester and arrested. She was turned over to Central Booking deputies at Livingston County Jail for arrest processing. The District Attorney’s Office recommended that Sackett be released on her own recognizance as the charges did not qualify for bail under state Bail Reform.
Sackett was issued an apeparance ticket and will answer charges in Avon Town Court at a later date.
Assisting with the investigation were members of the Criminal Investigation Division, the Forensic Identification Unit and the Patrol Division.
