“The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman.”—Malcolm X
Those words were spoken in 1962 and sadly still ring true today. Regardless of where you sit on the socioeconomic spectrum, Black women encounter abuse, gaslighting, and disrespect. When harm is perpetrated against a Black woman we are somehow held responsible and our plight ignored.
Award-winning filmmaker Tequoia Urbina and actress/producer Lynnette Rene Doby join Blaxit Global LIVE to talk about their short film project “Loren’s Chimera”. The film is a call to action that delves into the media’s wilful ignorance towards the violence against Black women and its “missing white women” fixation. Be sure to tune in for this important conversation.
