Authorities in New Mexico say the mass shooting appears to be “purely random.”
Farmington, NM Police Chief Steve Hebbe provided new details on the deadly shooting.
The 18-year-old suspect killed 3 people and injured six others– including 2 police officers– during the shooting. The suspect was also shot and killed by responding officers, According to police.
Police said the suspect fired at least 3 weapons during the shooting spree, including an “AR-style rifle.” At least six homes and three vehicles were struck by gunfire. The suspect also “roamed” a quarter-mile around the neighborhood, police said.
Farmington Police Chief Hebbe also confirmed there was no second shooter, despite fears from neighbors in the area.
Hills Church in Farmington, NM held a candlelight vigil for the victims of the mass shooting.
