Research institutes and think tanks, including the Institute of Risk Management SA, have highlighted risk factors that continue to bring a negative impact on the functioning of South Africa if things don’t change.
These include the energy crisis, the economic crisis, failing infrastructure, rampant corruption and runaway crime, among others. Earlier this year at the World Economic Forum, SA representatives in Davos identified the collapse of the state, debt crises and the total failure of services and public infrastructure as top issues of concern for 2023 in WEF’s annual Global Risks Perception Survey. Joining us on this discussion are Institute of Risk Management SA board member and Purple Group Risk Officer Nicole Comninos in the studio, while on Zoom we have former Statistician-General of South Africa Doctor Pali Lehohla, who is currently the director of the Economic Modelling Academy, a Professor of Practice at the University of Johannesburg.
