MOORHEAD — Concordia College will host a panel that features local criminal justice professionals.
The “Building a More Trustworthy Criminal Justice System: A Fargo-Moorhead Perspective” is from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 in Barry Auditorium in the Grant Center, 901 Eighth St. S., in Moorhead, according to a news release. It’s part of the Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work, which is exploring the question “How do we build a more trustworthy world.”
The panel will include Fargo Police Lt. Bill Ahlfeldt, Moorhead Public School Equity and Inclusion Director Matuor Alier, Concordia Alumni Relations Director Eric Johnson, Clay County Attorney Brian Melton and Clay County Judge Jade Rosenfeldt, who serves the Seventh Judicial District in Minnesota.
The U.S. justice system has been at the center of political and cultural controversies, according to the release. Activists, political leaders and others criticizing how it runs, some have called for comprehensive reform.
The issues have impacts on the Fargo-Moorhead area, the release said.
“The panel will offer a local and regional perspective on the challenges they face along with proposals for how to make the criminal justice system more effective and trustworthy,” the release said.
The event is free and open to the public and will also be hosted online. The school will send a link after participants register and choose the virtual option.
