The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states that
“the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
It’s a fundamental right that has been fiercely defended by many Americans for centuries.
This amendment is also, undoubtedly, the most controversial. In a utopia, it is easy to conclude that if there were no guns, there would be no shootings.
America is no utopia.
What we are focused on in this video is the number of times the right to bear arms has saved lives.
We have not spent endless hours gathering data to provide you with statistics.
Instead, we are going to share some of the stories of people – many of whom did not make the news – who were able to intervene and put an end to dangerous situations because they were exercising their second Amendment rights.
Let’s get started.
Our first story is a break-in that took place in Florida
According to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Maj. Frank Losat, “Two unknown males broke in and made demands of them. The male victim, who is the homeowner, began to get pistol-whipped and beat up.”
“During that incident, the female homeowner retrieved a firearm, which was in the house legally, and fired one round which struck the male victim that was [later found] deceased in the ditch.”
The homeowner, Jeremy King, is certain that he would have died had his eight-months-pregnant wife not stepped in to intervene. He said both home invaders had pistols and had fired one shot before his wife returned fire.
Next is an act of self-defense in Southern California.
According the local Sherrif officials, “A lawfully armed member of our community prevented a violent crime and ensured their own safety, while being confronted with multiple armed suspects.
”Surveillance video shows a man entering the Market & Liquor store and pointing a rifle at the owner behind the counter. The owner then reaches for a firearm and shoots the suspect.
If you are a betting person, please tell us how you bet that would have ended, had the store employee not been able to defend himself.
The last situation we will cover in today’s video is about a customer who Stopped a Mass Shooting.
In the attack, a suspect opened fire with a rifle in a food court at the Greenwood Park Mall in the city of Greenwood, Indiana.
The gunman had two rifles, a handgun and more than 100 rounds of bullets, said police.
He fired 24 rounds from one of the rifles before he was killed.
According to Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison, “Many more people would’ve died last night if not for a responsible armed citizen that took action very quickly within the first two minutes of the shooting.”
Yes, it would be better if we never had to think about protecting ourselves.
However, the sad fact is that we do need to think about it.
It is also important to continue to talk about situations where the second amendment has saved lives.
