Tzedek Program- “I Never Thought Of It That Way” – Incitement, Genocide and Terrorism
What are historical and modern causes of genocide and terrorism in the Middle East and throughout the world?
Is it “ancient hatreds”? Poverty among the oppressed? The result of Western (eg. Israeli) colonialism? Or is it caused by organized, mass hate incitement? A demonization of Jews, Israel, America and Western Democracies? And as importantly, WHAT IS TO BE DONE and WHY AREN’T WE, THE LIBERAL DEMOCRACIES, DOING IT?
Our speaker, Henry (Hank) Kopel, identifies the possible causes of, and possible ways of preventing terrorism.
In his book War on Hate: How to Stop Genocide, Fight Terrorism, and Defend Freedom and in his presentation, Kopel attempts to demonstrate that the central trigger of such mass killings and terrorist attacks is not ancient hatreds, poverty, or solely today’s politics but ramifications of mass ideological hate indoctrination.
HENRY KOPEL is a federal prosecutor in Connecticut with over thirty years’ experience investigating and prosecuting national security matters, domestic terrorism, violent crimes, narcotics trafficking, and white-collar crime.
