Brantford police’s Citizens on Patrol program is recruiting community members.

Citizens on Patrol volunteers are goodwill ambassadors whose main purpose is to observe and report suspicious behaviour. The mission of the program is to be the non-intrusive, trained civilian eyes and ears of police.
Members provide a visible presence in the community while fostering partnerships with police, local businesses and residents to deter and reduce crime.
Volunteers will receive comprehensive training by Brantford police officers and be given a uniform to wear while on patrol.
Activities include vehicle patrols, foot patrols and attending public events to represent the unit and promote community involvement.
The program doesn’t promote or require any involvement of members in the apprehension of criminals.
Police say they’re looking for “mature, community-minded adults” who represent a wide-range of ages, occupations, and reasons for participating. Security checks will be completed before selection of the participants and valid photo identification is required.
