On April 8th, 2024, an officer in Ohio was out on patrol when he spotted a blue Toyota driving southbound.
As per the arrest report
“While working in a detective capacity, I was assigned to conduct some follow up on this report regarding Ms. Farley’s arrest and possession of a large amount of suspected stolen retail items. From my investigation, I determined that nearly all of the items belonged to Kohls, Walmart, and Home Depot, in Lorain. Below are details of my investigations with each store.
Walmart
I responded to the Walmart, contacted asset protection, Melissa Eldridge, and advised her of our recovered items from Ptl. Marusa’s traffic stop. Ms. Eldridge was able to confirm all of the trading cards did in fact belong to Walmart. Ms. Eldridge reviewed the Walmart surveillance system and confirmed Ms. Farley was at Walmart just prior to Ptl. Marusa’s traffic stop on 4/8/24.
Ms. Farley was observed selecting numerous trading cards from displays identical to the cards recovered and placing them in a shopping cart. Ms. Farley then leaves the camera frame briefly and returns in frame with an empty shopping cart. Ms. Farley had a large black bag which was notable filled with items. Ms. Farley then leaves the store with the filled black bag and not paying for any items. It should be noted this same black bag was present in her vehicle along with the numerous trading cards during the traffic stop.
I completed a property receipt and returned 31 packs of Donross Trading Cards, 11 packs of Panini Trading Cards, 1 pack of Tops Trading Cards, and 1 pack of Yellowstone Playing Cards to Ms. Eldridge. She provided me a copy of her internal investigative report and video footage. The subtotal value of the cards was $274. 81.
Kohls
I responded to the Kohls, and advised several employees of our recovered items from Ptl. Marusa’s traffic stop. I showed the employees photos of the items and a photo of Ms. Farley. They immediately recognized the items as merchandise from Kohls. The employees also confirmed they observed Ms. Farley in the store on 4/8/24 and estimated she was there sometime between 5pm and 7pm. They did not recall Ms. Farley purchasing any items. At that time, the employees were unsure how to proceed with the situation as there is no on-site asset protection. I provided my business card and was advised my information would be forwarded up to management regarding this incident and for obtaining video.
After two weeks of no response from management, I responded back out to Kohls with the clothing items and several women’s makeup items. I spoke with employee, Pierce, and we sorted through the items. Ms. Pierce confirmed all of the clothing and makeup belonged to Kohls. It should be noted several sports team t-shirts and a black backpack did not have price tags but Ms. Pierce visually confirmed these items did belong to Kohls. Ms. Pierce estimated those items combined were roughly $100.00.
A property receipt was completed and I returned a total of 19 clothing items and 3 Sephora Makeup items. The subtotal value of these items was $840.73. I submitted an email request for video footage to the off-site asset protection.
Home Depot
I responded to the Home Depot and spoke with an employee, McGinnis, regarding some additional items recovered on this traffic stop. We determined an LED Rainbow Light Strip belonged to the store. The item was turned over to Home Depot, and Ms. McGinnis provided me with a receipt stating that its subtotal value was $17.98.
TOTAL VALUE OF ALL RECOVERED ITEMS: $1,133.52
There were two remaining additional items, a small lava lamp and a women’s makeup pallet, still
unopened and in the packaging. These items were placed in evidence as safekeeping for the
time being.”
