The Fourth Amendment protects you from being forced to identify yourself without legal justification. But some officers bypass this by using a vague yet intimidating phrase: “You match a description.”
Without giving any real details, they pressure people into compliance. And when someone asserts their rights, the officer often escalates: “Give me your ID, or I’ll arrest you.” This tactic relies on fear, not law.
