A yeshiva student was robbed of a large sum of cash Thursday night in Crown Heights leading to a chase and arrest of one of the perpetrators.
The incident occurred near Carroll Street and Troy Avenue at approximately 11:15 PM.
A group of 3 black males approached the victim and displayed a gun, and demanded his property, the victim said. The muggers forcibly removed an envelope containing cash from the victim and fled on Troy Avenue.
Police and Shmira were called, who searched the area for the perpetrators.
Shmira volunteers soon located one of the perpetrators on East New York Avenue between Albany Troy Avenues and contacted the NYPD. He was placed under arrest.
This incident comes 2 weeks after an unprovoked attack on a Yeshiva student on January 21 in Crown Heights. A Yeshiva student was walking with a friend near 1505 Carroll Street and Troy Avenue when he was punched in the face by an attacker.
24-year-old Babyson Dumervil has been arrested and charged with assault in that incident.
