Here are 10 cases when South African police were exposed on camera taking bribes
The video starts with the officer talking to a driver he pulled over. There’s a heated discussion, with the officer and the driver exchanging tense words. Moments later, the driver allegedly throws money into the trunk of his car and walks away. The officer is then seen approaching the trunk, where he reaches in and seems to pick something up. This clear act of bribery was caught on camera, leaving no room for denial. The footage quickly spread, sparking outrage and demands for justice.
The Gauteng Traffic Police said that an investigation is underway, stressing that bribery is seen as unprofessional and wrong. “The Gauteng Traffic Police expects its officers to act in an ethical way and with the highest integrity,” they said in a statement.
They noted that such actions not only damage public trust in the Gauteng Traffic Police but also hurt their efforts to make Gauteng a safe place for everyone.
