The Nassau County Police Department responded to a call of somebody attempting to shoplift inside of a gas station. Officers responded to the call and once arrived on scene, made contact with the suspect. The suspect seemed ‘out of it’ and was probably intoxicated. Officers asked the suspect to stand outside and talk. The suspect started walking towards officers. He was told to stop but continued. The suspect then pulled out a knife. Officers drew their firearms and shot the suspect hitting him multiple times in his upper body. The suspect was rushed to the local hospital in critical condition.
