On National Press Day, journalist faces alleged police abuse in Sivasagar’s Nazira

Amidst widespread public outrage over police brutality against a delivery boy in Guwahati, another incident of alleged police misconduct has surfaced on National Press Day.

On Saturday, a journalist was reportedly mistreated by personnel from the 25th Battalion of the Assam Police at the entrance of ONGC’s Assam Resources Headquarters in Nazira.

The officer in question, Bhaskar Gogoi, is alleged to have hurled abuses and threatened to “shoot” the journalist. The incident has sparked protests by local journalists, leading to the detention of the accused officer by the police.
