Kathmandu: During anti-government protests in Nepal this week, 13,500 prisoners escaped from jails.
Nepal Police spokesperson Binod Ghimire told AFP that three police officers were killed during the protests, and 13,500 prisoners escaped from prisons across the country.
Videos circulating on social media showed large numbers of inmates breaking out of Kathmandu’s Dilli Bazaar Jail while army personnel tried to contain them.
