Donald Trump’s Department of Justice has been trying to dismiss Eric Adams’ public corruption case, allegedly because they want Adams to be able to assist the Trump administration’s political priorities, like dealing with the immigration issue.
The problem is, given that Trump’s DOJ, specifically acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, has taken Eric Adams’ side rather than the side of the American people, there is no one arguing the opposite or adversarial position – that this is a corrupt attempt to dismiss Adams’ case.
So Judge Ho ruled that an independent attorney – known as amicus curiae or “friend of the court” – would be appointed to advise the court on the question of whether the motion to dismiss is appropriate and lawful.
