Hundreds of students in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta on Thursday staged a protest in front of the parliament building, demanding concrete action from the government against lawmakers’ perks and police brutality.
The students were voicing their dissatisfaction with recent government actions, demanding concrete steps and meaningful dialogue.
Despite meeting with members of the House of Representatives, protesters felt their concerns have not been adequately addressed.
“We hope that the House of Representatives today is not calling the students just to smooth out the atmosphere, but we want concrete steps that they continue to take for all the people of Indonesia,” said student Muzammil Ihsan.
