The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Patiala suspended 12 police officers, ranging from inspectors to constables, on Monday for assaulting a serving Army officer and his son during the night of March 13 and 14.
The incident sparked widespread outrage among both serving and retired members of the defense community after CCTV footage showing the brutal assault went viral on social media. Initially, the Patiala police seemed to protect their personnel, as the FIR was filed against unidentified individuals, despite the complainant naming three inspectors involved in the incident.
Barkha Dutt has now interviewed Angad Singh, the son of the Army officer.
