A wandering child has led to the arrest of a 39-year-old man with a lengthy criminal history.
On May 3, deputies with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a 3-year-old child found alone near a wooded area. The child was unharmed but looked filthy, according to deputies. Authorities determined that the child was supposed to be in the care of his father, Cody Goble, at a residence several blocks away.
When deputies arrived at the home, Goble fled through the back door, prompting a large-scale search. The sheriff’s office said two other children were initially unaccounted for, raising further concern. Fortunately, all three children were later found safe at a nearby residence and reunited with family, but Goble got away.
A warrant was issued for Goble’s arrest for child neglect. Finally, on May 12, a tip led deputies to a local arcade, where Goble was found attempting to hide.
