SCAM ALERT for drivers in North Wales (and beyond!)
Cybercriminals are impersonating the DVLA in scam emails claiming you owe road tax—but it’s all a trap to steal your personal and financial info!
The fake emails:
Use subject lines like “Update Your Road Tax”
Claim your car is “not legally allowed on the road”
Threaten legal action if you don’t pay immediately
Contain fake links pretending to be from the DVLA
North Wales Police say scammers are trying to harvest bank details using fear tactics.
The real DVLA never asks for payments via email or text.
Stay safe:
Never click links from unexpected messages
Always use the official GOV.UK website
Report phishing attempts to report@phishing.gov.uk
