Caught On Bodycam: Police Dealing with Brawl in Brutal Fashion

On June 29, 2024, at a park in Norwich, Connecticut, a large fight broke out during a memorial event, drawing a crowd of an estimated 200 to 300 people. The Norwich Police Department responded and encountered multiple confrontations; two officers were sent to the hospital — one was placed in a headlock and the other was affected by pepper spray. In July 2024, the department released body-camera footage from eight streams capturing the incident, showing officers using a taser, pepper spray and physical force to subdue the crowd. The New London State’s Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident, and additional arrests may follow.
