BORO PARK — Motzoei Shabbos was a busy night for Shomrim, and spelled bad news for criminals, as the volunteer patrolmen assisted the NYPD in making five separate arrests, Shomrim tells Hamodia.
First, a call was made to Shomrim at 2 a.m. to report a drunk driver. Members responded at 9th Avenue and 48 Street, where they spotted the man driving erratically. They followed him for over an hour until NYPD arrested him on Lawrence Avenue and Seton Place.
At 3 a.m., Shomrim members on patrol saw two youths spraying graffiti on McDonald Avenue and Foster Avenue; after being followed for half of an hour, they too were arrested by police.
At around 4 a.m., on 61st Street and 9th Avenue, Shomrim patrol saw a man break the window of a car with a metal rod. He began opening the door, but the alarm scared him off; he fled, and was swiftly arrested after Shomrim called the police
Finally, at 4:45 a.m., a member saw a group of four men in their high 20s break a car’s mirror on new Utrecht and 60 street. That vehicle belonged to a member of the Orthodox community. Once again, NYPD arrested the perpetrators.
