All suspects appeared before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on April 23, 2025, facing charges of corruption and contravening the Immigration Act. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about corruption at South Africa’s borders, with the BMA having dismissed approximately 27 officials since its inception in April 2023 and currently investigating 45 cases of misconduct.
