Balasore Student’s Self-Immolation: BJD Slams Police Brutality At Peaceful Protest
Speaking on BJD’s silent protest against Balasore Student Self Immolation, BJD leader Lekha Samantsinghar on July 18 alleged that police applied disproportionately high forces against us.
“Unfortunately, the police applied disproportionately high forces against us. The police brutality against our protesters are completely unwarranted. They used rubber bullets, water cannons and others which are not necessary. It was a peaceful protest…We are sitting today in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue who is the symbol of peace. We are strongly denouncing high police action against our protest…,” said Lekha Samantsinghar.
“BJD organised a silent protest today. We are following a democratic tradition in a peaceful way. We are making demonstrating against the processing which nobody listens to FM college’s student. This is getting a bad name for Odisha and institutions…,” said Debi Prasad Mishra.
