This SCANDAL saw the former B1244 reclassified from a “B Road” to an “A Road”, now part of the A1035, by East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC).
This reclassified road, that runs from Hornsea to the Leven bypass, has seen no upgrades to bring it anywhere close to “A Road” standard which is a critical criteria for road reclassification set out by the Department of Transport (DfT).
This road remains the same narrow, bendy and uneven road it always was and when reaching Westgate in Hornsea, the road becomes so narrow it cannot even legally function as the pavements routinely have to be used by drivers as an extension of the carriageway.
Despite contacting the DfT, it refuses to strip this road of its false “A Road” status and as a result ERYC still receives extra Cenral Government Funding.
