When two rookie officers in Lawton, Oklahoma, pulled over a vehicle with two Army service members, they tried to force the passenger, Sgt. Bixler, to provide ID without any legal basis. Despite the Sergeant explaining that “”suspicious activity”” isn’t a crime, the officers escalated to an unlawful arrest for “”obstruction.””
The “”receipts”” don’t lie. Once LPD supervisors reviewed the bodycam footage, the charges were immediately dropped, and the officer was suspended. Know the law, stay calm, and always record!
