The aftermath of the high-speed gun robbery in Salem, Oregon in 2023 has emerged. The passers-by who arrived to provide assistance were actually a retired deputy sheriff from Pierce County, Washington State. They were holding the special retired police officer badge issued by the police. Deputy Andrew thus chose to trust them and handed over his backup handgun to them. The two of them jointly conducted on-site security. Subsequently, the supporting police force arrived, and Andrew was able to check his injuries. His left arm was only scratched by the bullet. About 5 minutes later, the rescue personnel arrived and announced that the suspect Manzo died on the spot. Andrew received simple treatment and then went home to start a major incident leave. The police investigation revealed that Andrew fired 47 shots during the gun battle, while Manzo fired 13 shots. He had gunshot wounds to his chest, back, and head. A gun with a laser sight and a light was also found at the scene. No other people were injured in this incident. The police did not disclose any information about the retired police officer who risked his life to provide assistance, but expressed their gratitude to him.
