There have been many reported cases in Pakistan where individuals have been tortured or killed while in police custody, or killed in fake police encounters. Although laws exist in Pakistan to address such abuses, most people are unaware of these laws and do not know how legal action can be taken if the police commit such illegal acts.
In this video, I will explain the legal procedures through which the affected party can take action if the police torture or kill an accused person, or kill someone in a fake police encounter. The relevant laws in Pakistan are The Torture and Custodial Death (Prevention and Punishment) Act, 2022 and The Torture and Custodial Death (Prevention and Punishment) Rules, 2025.
