Acting Mpumalanga Police Commissioner Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi says slain police officer Sergeant Tshepo Mokoena was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Mkhwanazi visited Mokoena’s family on Sunday.
The 39-year-old officer was shot while returning home from a shop.
Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of Mokoena and a civilian in Grootvlei.
