Tampa, Florida — On April 24, 2025, a man in tears approached an officer with his son and says, “He’s choking, bro. He’s choking!”. The child, who had reportedly been eating a tomato, was unresponsive as officers quickly sprang into action. With calm coordination, one officer positioned the boy face-down and delivered firm back blows, while others attempted to open his airway and called for medical support. The father, visibly distraught and pacing nearby, watched helplessly as officers worked frantically to save his son’s life. Moments later, the child began to cry and cough — a sign of restored breathing. Officers breathed a collective sigh of relief as the lodged tomato was dislodged, prompting applause and expressions of gratitude.
