A familiar rental scam is making a comeback in Las Vegas, exploiting the city’s high rents and housing shortage with new tactics that can easily deceive desperate renters.
Cole McMillan, a prospective renter, shared his experience with a scam that nearly cost him. “My friend was on Facebook Market trying to help me find a good rental, and this guy’s house popped up – beautiful home,” McMillan said. The listing advertised a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home with a pool for just $1,500. “This is kinda too good to be true,” McMillan recalled thinking.
