Yesterday, the Pietermaritzburg High Court dismissed former President Jacob Zuma’s application to have State Prosecutor, Advocate Billy Downer, removed from the arms deal corruption trial.
This was Zuma’s second attempt to have Advocate Downer removed, a process that began in 2021.
Presiding Judge Nkosinathi Chili also reserved the court’s judgment in the application to drop corruption and racketeering charges against French arms manufacturer Thales, Zuma’s co-accused.
The matter was adjourned until the 3rd of June.
To chat more about this, we are joined virtually by Reitumetse Benedict Phiri, Attorney and Managing Director of lusPrudentia Specialist Counsel.
