The National Lotteries Commission has allocated R20 million to compensate nine whistleblowers, who exposed serious corruption within the organisation. These people, many of whom were either forced out or faced disciplinary action for speaking out, are now set to receive reparations. According to BusinessDay Live, Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau responded in writing to a parliamentary question posed by MK MP Des van Rooyen that the compensation would be drawn from the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund.
