Mom Charged With Child Abuse After 2-Year-Old Son Is Shot By Brother: Cops

A mom was arrested after cops say her son accidentally shot his little brother in their home. Colorado Springs Police arrested Monica Abeyta, 30, after her 2-year-old was shot while his 3-year-old brother was playing with a gun. Despite the mother’s anguish, police say they plan to charge her with felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. The child was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery.
