In the early morning hours of May 22, 2022, an East Moline woman drove drunk onto the I-74 bridge’s pedestrian path and hit three men, killing two of them.
The crash resulted in the deaths of 21-year-old Ethan L. Gonzalez and 18-year-old Anthony M. Castaneda, both of Moline.
On Nov. 8, 2023, Chabbria Harris signed a plea deal in Rock Island County, pleading guilty to one count of aggravated DUI in exchange for a sentence of 20 years in prison, with two years of parole following her release. Under Illinois law, she must serve at least 85% of her sentence — 17 years — before being eligible for release.
