Narcissism has become a plague in the United States. The internet is increasingly saturated with stories from survivors, with entire channels devoted to various aspects, or “subgenres:,” of the Narcissist Victim Experience. Many of these are devoted to the Boomer Narc Parent , as this scenario is unfortunately almost the standard for Gen X and Millenials.

Narcissism, or NPD, narcissistic personality disorder, is an incredibly complex, confusing, and absolutely devastating disorder. It often presents in clusters with other disorders, such as antisocial, borderline personality disorder, sociopathy and, psychopathy common overlapping comorbidities. It also presents on a spectrum, and with several variants. The behaviour of individuals with NPD, however, varies mostly in degree, not in kind. They are incredibly predictable, almost as if they are all folowing the same carefully crafted script. This last fact has definite advantages for those that find themselves having to deal with a narc. Once identified, managing the narc is simple: NO CONTACT.

My mother had NPD, and the damage done to me as a child was incredibe. They live to destroy your self esteem, gaslight constantly to a degree that often causes mental illness (or worse), and do emotional damage that often results in the victim developing BPD. All of that applies to my situation. It was absolutely crippling, and the losses that were a consequence of this abuse are immeasurable. And, probably unforgivable. But….there is always a silver lining.

Having a high IQ, being a little bit autistic, and suffering from narcisstic abuse turned out to be a sort of perfect storm in a lot of ways. Ironically, this type of abuse, especially in the context of the other attributes that I just described, often results in the inculcation of certan superpowers in the victim. After decades of vigorous study, introspection, psychedelic experiences, and most recently, hearing the stories of others, I have developed a profound understanding of the causes and consequences of narc parental abuse, and have engineered a strategy for not just get past it all, but that allow us to transmuste the trauma into real strength. From the darkness, must come the light, as Bob Marley once sang.

In this stream I will share my story, and offer what I can to others that have lived, or are living, through exposure to a narcissist, especially a narc parent, that will assist them in turning wounds into wisdom. Almost even more importantly, I will tell you what to do, and ho to do it, if you are realizing that someone close to you, or someone who has just entered your life, is a narc.
