The official reports say that Suchir committed suicide a few days after his birthday. He vanished, refused to respond to his family’s calls, and then 4 days later he was found dead from a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound. But a few months earlier, Suchir had blown the whistle on Artificial Intelligence, and in particular Open AI, his employer. Suchir was an AI researcher. He told the New York Times that he was concerned about a few things. He explained. He blogged. He told the world. And then he died. Suchir’s family isn’t convinced that it was self-inflicted.
