Have you ever imagined that buying a home could lead you straight into the hands of scammers? Please follow the Daylight Robbery podcast to get more information: http://contentrenegade.com/
I always thought property scams were rare until I heard stories like Will and Jess, who worked hard for two years to save their $50,000 home deposit, only to lose it all to a fake solicitor email scam.
In this episode, I share how real estate fraud, mule bank accounts, and weak banking protections turned their dream into a nightmare. You’ll also hear about others like Ilya Fomin and Levin Salaberry, who were scammed out of hundreds of thousands of dollars while making what should have been secure payments inside trusted banks.
This video uncovers how digital bank robbery is operating at scale in Australia and why so many buyers never see their money again. If you’re thinking of buying a home or know someone who is, this is a must-watch. Leave your thoughts in the comments; do you think banks should be doing more to prevent these scams?
Episode 1 of Daylight Robbery unravels the chilling world of digital bank robberies—the new frontier of crime in Australia. Forget the sawn-off shotguns; today’s criminals use stolen emails, fake documents, and exploited trust to siphon your life savings. From first-home buyers to retirees, no one is safe from the cybercrime epidemic. In the 2020s, it’s customers who are the target for digital bank robbery – not the bank.

The government encourages everyone to report scams to Scamwatch, but victims suggest it will waste more time when the more urgent need is to:
1. Notify police and keep track of your police event number (many victims suggest its important to get an event number quickly, but also say it’s better to go into a police station and deal with someone face-to-face). Complaints are likely to take months to be dealt with, but it’s important the bank knows your event is a crime, not simply a scam.
Police Assistance Line – 131 444
2. Notify your bank or payment platform (ideally with the police event number, so the bank understands the severity of the situation).
