A violent offender, wanted for multiple serious crimes, was walking through a busy London street thinking he wouldn’t be found.
But our Live Facial Recognition technology (LFR) had other plans. He was arrested for a string of violent offences, including robbery and possession of a weapon.
In seconds, he was located. Minutes later, his identity was confirmed and he was in handcuffs.
A total of 1,035 individuals wanted for offences such as rape, serious assault, and shoplifting have been arrested by the Met through the use of Live Facial Recognition since January 2024.
