This inhuman and condemnable act by the District Collector and Superintendent of Police of Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, leaves me with no option but to file a formal complaint before the National Human Rights Commission of India.
A man paraded with a garland of shoes and slippers around his neck, visible injury marks all over his body, and torn clothes—this scene is a blot on the conscience of any civilized society.
“I have never witnessed such public humiliation of a person from the Sahu community. That this happened under Vishnu Deo Sai’s government makes it even more shameful.”
The victim has been identified as Chitrasen Saw (Sahu), who is being projected as an accused in the Tamnar incident. But being an accused does not give the state machinery any license to crush a person’s dignity, self-respect, and fundamental human rights.
Justice cannot be delivered through public humiliation, custodial brutality, or caste-based targeting. This is not law enforcement—this is abuse of power.
