On June 29, 2024, an officer spotted a vehicle illegally stopped in a crossover in Holmen, WI. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle sped away, reaching speeds over 100 mph. The suspect soon evaded the officer by recklessly taking an exit and later abandoned the vehicle. Police located the abandoned car and conducted an extensive search of the area but without success. Shortly after, dispatch reported a vehicle theft just a few blocks away. While patrolling the area where the stolen vehicle had been sighted, an officer discovered it parked at the local mall.
