This is a case where the police continued to detain a man that had not committed any crime. The man became increasingly agitated while police violated his constitutional rights by asserting control beyond their authority and he had enough and drove away. A police officer jumped into the truck window and the driver proceeded to drive at high speed until the officer was forced to shoot the driver to save his own life. This shooting didn’t need to occur because no crime was committed and the police had no authority to detain the man after determining that he was not an immediate danger to himself or others.
