“The main character of our story is Takai Naoko, 54 years old, who worked at a bank. She was unmarried, had no children, and lived alone in a private house in the Hachiman district of Takatsuki. She led a simple life, revolving around work and home, with little social interaction.

One day, Takai, known for her punctuality, did not show up for work. Colleagues and relatives were concerned and started searching for her whereabouts. What had happened to her?
