VIDEO: Detroit police chase escapee who fled from them in handcuffs

JUST IN 🚨: Video captures the moments an escapee in handcuffs was taken into custody after a pursuit.

The situation unfolded near Detroit Receiving Hospital in the area of Mack & Woodward.

The suspect was initially placed in handcuffs by police for carrying a concealed weapon. He was then taken to the hospital from the Detroit Detention Center for medical evaluation, authorities said.

While being taken to the hospital, he managed to escape officers on foot.

Police set up a perimeter and were able to locate him and take him into custody. He is Okay, according to police. One officer was injured during the original escape. Stay with @metrodetroitnews (news & information release only)
