US Department of Labor recognizes Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton as a workplace safety ‘Star’

SAN FRANCISCO – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has certified Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton as a “Star” employer in its Voluntary Protection Programs.

The VPP Star is OSHA’s highest level of recognition of employers and workers who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and kept injury and illness rates below the industry averages. The agency’s Voluntary Protection Programs bring company management, site employees, and OSHA together to focus on hazard prevention and control, worksite analysis, training, management commitment, and worker involvement, to prevent fatalities, injuries, and illnesses.

The Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton’s mission is to maintain and operate air station facilities and property, providing support and services that enable Marine Expeditionary Force, tenants, and visiting units to maintain and enhance their mission capability and combat readiness.
