Speaking in Kyiv, Ukraine on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed Russia’s attack on a Ukrainian market, and announced a new weapons package for the eastern European nation amid its war with Russia.
Speaking alongside Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Blinken announced the assistance includes $175 million to bolster Ukraine’s air defences, including depleted-uranium munitions, another $100 million in foreign military financing to support the country’s long-term military needs, as well as $300 million to support law enforcement efforts to “restore and maintain law and order in liberated areas.”
On Sept. 6, at least 17 people were killed and 32 wounded in a Russian attack on a crowded market in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kostiantynivka.
