During a visit at the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona, Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday (August 22) criticized his opponent Kamala Harris as a ‘lazy’ border czar while praising the wall that was built during his administration, but was never completely finished.
“We had a border czar… She loved the title, but she didn’t want to do the work because she’s lazy and probably more importantly than being lazy, she, wants to have an open border,” Trump said.
Trump made the visit to the border just hours before U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris makes her speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Trump was also asked by a reporter about an Arizona man wanted for threatening over social media to kill former President Donald Trump.
“No, I have not heard that but I am not that surprised and the reason is because I want to do things that are very bad for the bad guys,” Trump said.
In July, Trump was shot in his ear in an attempted assassination that left two others injured and one man dead.
Harris has raised a record-breaking $500 million in a month and has narrowed the gap or taken the lead against Trump in many opinion polls of battleground states. Nationwide, she leads Trump 46.6% to 43.8%, according to a compilation of polls by FiveThirtyEight.
